2020 sucks, no doubt. And most of the suckery could have certainly been kept at bay if Donald Trump wasn’t an inexperienced buffoon. But to blame him for the entirety of the economic and health tribulations that happened due to a random deadly virus seems a bit unfair to me (calling him a racist turd, however, not unfair).

What we can blame him for, is adding to the unavoidable dumpster fire by taking aim at Goodyear Tires after they banned MAGA hats (as well as pro-Biden attire) at their facilities. We’ll give Trump the benefit of the doubt and say it was never his intention for the hats to be symbols of racism, but, guess what? They are now. Swastikas were historically used as symbols of peace and well-being by ancient Asian cultures, but guess what? They’re not now, and Goodyear doesn’t let you wear those on your hat either.

Trump’s Twitter rants are generally just laughable to me, but the Goodyear ban really sent me into the mindset that this man truly has no idea what he even stands for, let alone, knows how to lead a country through a dark time. “Don’t buy GOODYEAR TIRES – They announced a BAN ON MAGA HATS. Get better tires for far less!” was the Tweet directly from Trump’s fingers (i.e., no LIBERAL MEDIA AGENDA had to report on this. He typed it on a public forum).

As many on the right supported, and most Americans who are above political influence can at least recall, Trump also made some very stiff tariffs (up to 50%) on appliances and items coming from Asian countries like China and South Korea as a means to, in his words, “Demonstrate to the world that the United States will not be taken advantage of anymore,” and ensuring that these tariffs will help American companies who make similar items (you know, like tires) get more business and retain more jobs for U.S. citizens.

Cue Goodyear.

Here’s a quick synopsis of the company:

  • Made in the U.S. since 1898
  • Employs 64,000 Americans
  • Iconic blimp that has as much Americana clout as a ballpark hot dog
  • A list of top competitors
    • Michelin (French)
    • Hankook (South Korean)
    • Kumho (South Korean)
    • Bridgestone (US Company w/ Manufacturing in China)
    • Yokohama (Japanese)

If you take his Goodyear directive to his supporters and put it next to his reasoning for Asian tariffs that he laid out for those same supporters, I really can’t think of a better example of Trumpian hypocritical bullshit, and this one is based solely on being unjustifiably offended by something well out of the scope of his presidency. There are plenty of examples of his hypocrisy, but before this one I always just thought he was kind of “playing the game” when he would say contradictory things. It fuels his base. This just truly makes no sense, though. The man in charge of the most powerful country in the world is endangering U.S. manufacturing and sales jobs and making the beneficiaries those very same foreign companies he boycotted a handful of months ago. Color me confused. (Or as Trump would say, “colored me confused.”)

This is simply indefensible, hypocritical, and will directly impact hard working Americans. For what reason? A childish response to something that hurt his liddol feelings. I know the Dem ticket is a clown show too, but at least their hypocrisies are sensible and for political gain. I am convinced that Trump truly has no knowledge of the United States economic and political systems, no compassion for a single person outside of himself, and a has had ED since he was 22 (speculative).

If you’ve disagreed with every word of this article and still made it this far, I truly appreciate it, and the world needs more people willing to listen. I also have some great news for you. When those cake-making folks caught fire for not baking up a 3-layer chocolate taste castle for two dudes who were getting hitched, I actually (silently, I will admit) supported the company’s right to do whatever the hell they wanted to do with their business. I think they’re closed-mined douchebags, and they definitely lost mybusiness (if I were ever to buy a wedding cake in Colorado), but I didn’t think it was Uncle Sam’s place to tell them that. I believed the people would have a bigger voice, and money certainly talks. With that in mind, I do think the people who love Trump will “talk” with their money regarding Goodyear’s policy because with all of their flaws, they sure are loyal. So… to everyone else who made it this far, Goodyear is doing a damn good cash back deal for all of their online orders as of the time of this publication, so get on it!!!
